Matt Ross : my favorite influencer

Matt on my blog 👇

This blog is not about me. It's about male models & photoshoots but I feel like I need to give a bit of context in this specific article because I can't just go & say "Matt Ross is my favorite influencer". It just wouldn't make any sense & it's not just a statement, it's something I really deeply mean.

I came across Matt totally randomly. I was looking for pics of models for my Instagram page hotdudes_goodmood. I used to look for models on Google to find pics to post because obviously you can find pretty much everything on Google. I saw a picture of Matt 👇

Matt caught my eye instantly. To give you a little more context, at that moment I wasn't doing so well. I had been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia (not the strongest & most common type but still a pretty bad one) a while ago & to make a long story short I was absolutely lost. I had no energy, no motivation, no sense of anything. Everyday was about how I would make it to the next one & if that sounds overly dramatic I have to say I was facing extreme fatigue, various degrees of pain, a whole bunch of other symptoms & a certain despair. Because I felt like there was no way things were going to get better. I was 30 & had literally spent an entire year of my life feeling sorry for myself.
Now the thing is life is full of surprises. Matt Ross is one of them. At first I knew little to nothing about him, just that he was a South African model & he looked good. Fortunately Matt is also a Vlogger & it's when I started watching his Daily Vlogs that things started to change. For the better.

I watch every single VLOG & Youtube video Matt shares. To be honest they're my favorite videos ever to watch on the Internet. Why ? Because they're so GENUINE that you feel in every ounce of Matt's words his sincerity & desire to give as much value as possible to people.
When you're at a point where you don't even know what to do with your life, with yourself, it feels absolutely AMAZING to find someone like Matt. Someone who speaks the truth, someone who's not giving you the BS you can so easily find on Social Medias. That's why I consume his content on all platforms.
I don't consider myself like a dumb person, there are many things I can figure on my own, things I knew but didn't care giving a sh*t about because I was so getting used to feeling like sh*t most of the time & doing nothing to change the situation, my motto was "why bother ?". When I started watching his videos I found myself so inspired by Matt's vision of life, by his enthusiasm about every opportunity he got whether it is a professional one or a personal one. He literally taught me life lessons, literally ! He's so passionate about everything he does, he sees things on such a positive side when most people are complaining, moaning about them not working as planned. He NEVER gives up, always pushing himself hard to reach his goals. That's what I needed to wake up, to attack my own goals & simply LIVE again. And before I even realized it I had already started to adopt his way of thinking. Sure I feel like I'm still learning how to do things the right way to be in a good place but I'm learning every day from him & using what I learn to improve my life, to be a better version of myself & to attack my goals on a daily basis. Yes, Matt's been my wake up call & through everything he does with his work he helps me not losing my focus.

I've never met someone quite like him. Someone who's always on the positive side of life, always willing to give to others so they can pursue their own dreams, focus on what's most important for them. My family's supportive but not the demonstrative kind & we're not used to talking much. And I espcially, when something is wrong, I keep it to myself most of the time. What I have found in Matt is not only an inspiration but a motivation.

My favorite quote of Matt so far is :

YOUR LIFE DOESN'T TAKE A DAY OFF. WHY ARE YOU LETTING YOUR GOALS DO SO ?

Matt also posts stories on Instagram. I don't mean the stories you can find on everyone's page but actual stories in his captions where he shares parts of himself 👇

When I look at myself today I hardly believe I'm the same person I was two years ago. Well it's actually wrong, I'm not the same person exactly because thanks to Matt I've chased so much of the negativity that was consuming me. Of course on a strictly medical level I still have other things to do to manage Fibromyalgia (like physical therapy for a start & it's really helping). But regarding my way of thinking, so much changed. I realized so much things about myself & what I was doing wrong. How could I not be grateful for him ?
Every time he puts out a new content I find something valuable in it. Because even when he's not ranting about one thing or another I still see something that's valuable, a way he has to organize the things in his life (a very smart one !) or when he's training or whatever & it inspires me to do as best as I possibly can in my own life.

I used to think my body was too big of a mess & would stay that way forever. Then I would feel bad because of not working out. One thing I learned with Matt is "1 is better than 0". If one day I feel more tired than usual I'll make a shorter workout session but in the end it'll still be a workout session. And I can feel my body is thankful for not being "pushed aside"/ignored anymore.

Here's a video I made for IGTV to celebrate Matt's 800 days of consecutive training 👇

He does so many things for his audience in addition to responding to EVERY single comment & DM.

A few more examples below 👇

Matt posts his diet & workout on Twitter EVERY day !!!

This helps me a lot because I used to eat all sorts of craps & then complain about the effects on my body. I'm not saying I eat the exact same things he eats but I eat a lot more healthier.

The two videos above 👆 are part of a segment called Question of the Day !
I absolutely ADORE these Questions/Answers. Some subjects I am really happy to have a person I respect so much giving his opinion on. And everytime Matt gives a very genuine answer & is very concerned that it'll be valuable/help people.

He also uploads podcasts on Soundcloud 👇
HOW TO AVOID DISAPPOINTMENT
MICRO-FAST, MACRO-PATIENT

Just listening to Matt's point of views on various subjects is a privilege because he's so good at that & he's not just talking to hear his own voice but what he says makes so much sense. It's like I'm thinking about something & then listen to a podcast, watch a video & have my answer or a least a clue of what to do/how to do it.

Matt has already hosted a Workshop in Cape Town 📍 👇
BECOME A SOCIAL MEDIA INFLUENCER

Again, so many useful points. So many people want to become an influencer but don't have a clue of what it really implies, what it really means.

And another Workshop will take place on the 2nd of February !

It is one of Matt's two main focuses in life to inspire people to do what they love. That's a very noble focus & he's really doing an amazing job out of it. Just take a look at the comments he gets on Instagram, Youtube, Facebook or Twitter to see how much people respect & value him.

If you're in Cape Town 📍 & want to attend a Workshop on Social Medias & being an influencer you should take a look 👇

Matt also gives 1 on 1 personal brand consulting. You can find all the details by clicking on the link below 👇

Being an influencer his not about parading on Social Medias showing the money you make, the things you buy or if you meet a celebrity or are invited to a cool event. It's about creating contents that'll serve people in their everyday life, it's about showing the process of being successful, showing the actual hustle & grind & interacting with your audience. Not saying things you don't genuinely believe in. It's about respecting your followers enough to put out the best quality content even if it takes time. That's how you become an inspiration to others. That's why Matt Ross is my number one inspiration.
